Enjoy the distant view on a panoramic hike with the family? Or would you rather feel the adrenalin in the bike park or at the Millenium Jump? Many things are possible at Semmering in the Viennese Alps – even car-free thanks to public transport!
The modern 8-seater gondola lift also takes you up to the Hirschenkogel at 1,340 metres above sea level in summer. On clear days, the view stretches far and wide across the country. The Semmering is easily accessible without a car and can be reached in around 90 minutes from Vienna’s main railway station.
TIP for early risers: The Sunrise Hike on the Hirschenkogel along with breakfast at the “Liechtensteinhaus” and accompanied by hiking guides – before it’s back to the valley with the first gondola around 8 am.
- The forest ropes course at the summit of the Hirschenkogel is new and the size of a football field. Accessible by cable car, 6 courses with different levels of difficulty await you at 1350m.
- Close to the mountain station is the Millennium Observatory (155 steps, 25 metres high). Daredevils can try the Millennium Jump (children from the age of 14).
- The centrally located Panorama Restaurant Liechtensteinhaus serves culinary delicacies and caters for hikers, families and mountain bikers alike.
- Hiking on the Semmering: this dream-like tour leads from the Liechtensteinhaus to the Sonnwendstein. The path from the mountain station to the valley is suitable for prams.
- You can also get back to the valley with the all-terrain mountain carts. The well-built course offers steep turns and wave-like tracks (for children from 8 years).
- Mountain bike action is offered by the Bikepark-Semmering with exciting trails in three levels of difficulty (children from 10 years). Rental bikes & equipment available on site.
- One new feature is the forest ropes course the size of a football field at the summit of the Hirschenkogel. Accessible by cable car, 6 courses with different levels of difficulty await you at 1350m.
- The Hirschi playground on the Hirschenkogel complete with swings, large slides, a water play area, ball track, jumping and balancing equipment promises fun and games for the little ones.
- Winter sports at Semmering with 14 varied kilometres of pistes, a World Cup piste, a split park and freshly groomed night pistes every single day. The 3-kilometre-long toboggan run, which is also illuminated in the evening, promises to be tonnes of fun.
