Mountain railways in summer

The mountain railways, from train carriages and chairlifts to the quick-paced cable car, take guests to vantage points in the paradise of views.

There are modern mountain railways for hikers in the Vienna Alps. This saves many metres in altitude at the beginning of an excursion and means hikers are optimally positioned for the return journey after an intense tour along the Viennese Alps. The ride on the Schneebergbahn is particularly worthwhile. It leads almost all the way up to Lower Austria’s highest peak.

The view is also beautiful from the quad chairs of the Mönichkirchen mountain railway and the Schneeberg chairlift. Sheltered from the wind and weather, the cable car on the Hirschenkogel takes you to hiking on the Semmering and in the spacious Rax cable car.
