Hohe Wand Nature Park
Hiking on the 8 km-long Karst Plateau promises to be an experience for the whole family.
The Hohe Wand is a massive karst plateau in the Vienna Alps. It is 8km long, 2.5km wide, and 1,132m high. The 1,000 climbing and hiking routes in the Hohe Wand Nature Park make the limestone monadnock a magnet for climbers, hikers, families and paragliders.
The view from the “Skywalk” panoramic terrace is unique. The platform is 150m above the valley, and extends approximately 8m from the rock face. The 18m-high observation tower also offers a fantastic view. From here, you can see as far as Lake Neusiedl, Schneeberg, and the Alpine foothills.
Families with children will love the wide range of petting zoos, playgrounds, animal pens, nature trails, llama walks, and the simple routes which are also accessible with a pram. Fine food is available in the many taverns. The journey to the plateau by car involves toll roads.
