Cycling during the day with dream-like views of Semmering, Rax and historic viaducts, relaxing in the evening in a comfortable 3-star superior hotel: the cycling holiday in Payerbach is only one hour by train from Vienna.

Thanks to a super-fast rail connection, you don’t need a car for a cycling holiday in this World Heritage Site location. It only takes 51 minutes from Vienna Meidling to Payerbach. The “Payerbacherhof” is located in the middle of the village and has its own alpine spa complete with a king-size whirlpool, sauna and relaxation area. In addition to romantic rooms, the Hübner family rents out two loft-style holiday apartments: a former warehouse next to the farm was converted into a roomy loft space; one covers 170 square metres, and the other 85 square metres.

Railway viaducts accompany you on tour

The hotel is located directly on the family-friendly Schwarzatal Route: the 40-kilometre route is mostly asphalted and has only gentle gradients. In Payerbach, you can also join two circular mountain bike tours: the near 18-kilometre Grillenberg trail and the challenging Kreuzberg trail – both with magnificent views of the Rax, Semmering and the Semmering Railway World Heritage Site with its historic railway viaducts.

Guided day cycling tours

The Hübner family is known as a mountain bike-savvy family: As a certified Viennese Alps Bike Host, they offer guided day bike tours in the surroundings of their hotel. Bicycle accessories, drying rooms and bicycle garages are also available at the Payerbacherhof.

Fresh fish on the table

Fried or scrambled eggs for breakfast? A hearty breakfast buffet is not all, of course: changing fish specialities are offered from the nearby fish farm. The “venison schnitzel in a nut breadcrumb” also sounds tempting. Personal cycling stage successes can be celebrated in the cosy wine cellar with a good drop or two.
