Culinary and visually, the Naturfreundehaus Knofeleben spoils its visitors with regional delicacies in the Panoramagaststube before the hike continues. Ideally situated, it can be climbed from all directions.
Traditional hospitality in modern architecture
Its generous panoramic glazing makes the Naturfreundehaus (1,250m) on the Knofeleben on the Gahns, a foothill of the Schneeberg, the brightest shooting hut in Austria. Incidentally, the name "Knofeleben" comes from wild garlic, which can be found here in abundance during the season. The seasonality and regionality of the menu is exemplary: trout, char, lamb, sheep's cheese, fruit, vegetables and eggs come from the immediate surroundings.
Many paths lead to the Friends of Nature: The hut is a stage destination on the Vienna Alpine Arc and therefore very easy to reach for hikers from all directions.
