Brief description

Wonderful snowshoe hike on the Fadensattel at Schneeberg.

Description

This tour can be done as a round trip from the parking lot of the Schneeberg chairlift and offers a great view of the valley from the Edelweiß hut. Rent snowshoes at the lower station and climb Schneeberg up to the Fadensattel. After some food and drink at the Edelweiß hut, enjoy the panorama at the end of the tour on the descent with the chairlift.

Route description Snowshoeing on the Faden on Schneeberg

From the lower station of the chairlift we will follow the markings in the direction of Mamauwiese. At the right turn arrow in the direction of Mamauwiese, we will continue straight ahead on the forest path until we reach the Almreserlhaus or the Edelweiß hut (both variants are possible). For the descent, we will either walk back the same way or take the chairlift down the last few meters.

Directions

Take the A2 to the Wiener Neustadt West exit and then follow the B26 towards Puchberg. In Puchberg follow the signs to Losenheim and the Schneeberg chairlift.

Parking

Free parking is available at the lower station of the Schneeberg chairlift.

Arrival to Puchberg by train (ÖBB) from Wr. Neustadt, then Retter Linien from Puchberg to Losenheim.

Equipment

You need a sporty winter garment (waterproof, windproof and breathable), firm and waterproof winter or hiking boots reaching over your ankle, gloves, a winter hat and sunglasses. A backpack with granola bars and drinks in a thermos for the trip, spare clothes to change, balaclava and a second pair of gloves (mittens), ski goggles and sunscreen.
