Falkenstein Nature Park

Description

Falkenstein-Schwarzau nature park in the mountains between Rax and Schneeberg may only be 14 ha in size, but there is plenty to see in the countryside of the Karst region. You will discover flat meadows along the banks of the Schwarza and gently rolling slopes as well as rock formations, caverns, karst springs and waterfalls. The Falkenstein marks the highest point at 1,011 metres.

The rare plant and animal species in the nature park are also very special. Many alpine flowers grow in the meadows and chamois can also be spotted in the open countryside. To get closer to the animals, you can visit the animal enclosures and the petting zoo. There is also a large playground for children.

The Hubmer Gedächtnisstätte memorial site has historical significance, as it is an authentically reconstructed lumberjack's hut. Today, visitors learn about the life and times of the lumberjack.
